with success stories from previous events organised, this years own also lived up to expectation, as youths from various fields were seated at the SSNIT Conference room, Takoradi as early as 10:00am. Prior to this year been an election year a suitable topic #VoteOnIssues was deliberated upon. The Vote On Issues campaign is a collaboration between YFm Ghana and Star-Ghana.
The First speaker of the day, a rep from the Electoral commission of Ghana, Mrs Abigail Amponsah-Nutakor, Head of Gender & Disability, made a wonderful submission on 'Understanding Ghana Election process and challenges' She stressed on the advanced role the Electoral commision will be using this year in the electoral process and also new ways of communication been adopted by the EC.. some few quotes from her presentation are listed below;
"The Voters Exhibition is meant for corrections, inclusion, objections & deletions"
"People whose names have been expounded from the voters register can pursue the issue in court"
"Returning Office Declare Result At The Constituency Level"
"Only The Chairman Of The Electoral Commision Can Declare The Presidential Result"
Also speaking at the event was a renowned man in the Social Media industry by name Mr. Kumi Owusu Nkansah, founder of Brands Aid Ghana, made a presentation on 'The Use of Social Media on Election Day'
On his presentation he highlighted on some relevant delivery on some Do's and Dont's of Social media on election day.
He charged the youth to ensure that they avoid postings that will yield a higher form of conflict between them and any other associate. He also said, Youths should avoid taking pictures of persons in ques to vote and also that of ballot papers as it can create a high sense of discord.
